Congratulations on your purchase of SmartCarry®, the most comfortable, reliable and deepest concealment holster in production! Equipped with a "never snag" holster front panel seam, your firearm will never hang when drawing because the rear of cylinders, safety or other protrusions snags on a downward facing seam. Follow the instructions below for safe, efficient use of your firearm in this holster.
TO DON YOUR HOLSTER:Put on your underwear, t-shirt, shirt or anything that tucks into your lower garment,
but not your trousers, shorts, skirt, dress or lower outer garment. Place the holster pouch on the front center of your body and bring the strap around your hips, below your waist and around the top of your hipbones, making sure you stretch the elastic for a tight fit, the tighter the better, for comfort. Note: put a piece of scrap cloth or safety pins in the bottom of the back-up magazine or speed loader pocket so that .25" to .5" of the device protrudes above the top of the holster, for fast access. Cloth or safety pins can also be added to the firearm pocket to carry a smaller firearm in the holster. Correct fit is with the entire trigger guard inside the firearm pocket, everything aft of the trigger guard out of the pocket and above it. TIP: safety pins work better than cloth! Please note that SmartCarry® is not going to work like it should, or be completely comfortable if you try to wear it too high on your body! The strapping must be around your hips, not your waist, and the holster must be directly in front of your private parts.
WARNING!Until you are confident you have mastered your holster, always practice with an unloaded firearm! Safety first and always!
TO HOLSTER YOUR FIREARM:1. With the thumb of your non-dominant (non-gun) hand reach inside your
waistband and hook the firearm pocket of your holster.
2. Pull the front panel of the holster (and your lower garment) away from your body.
3. Grasping the butt only of your firearm (finger off the trigger - your hand never enters the firearm pocket of your holster, and can't, without considerable effort on your part), slide the muzzle behind your thumb and into the firearm pocket of your holster. The firearm should be in a vertical position with the butt (grip) above the top of your dominant side pocket.
WARNING!
Make sure your firearm's safety is fully engaged, if so equipped, and in perfect working order. Never try to holster a firearm with your finger on or near the trigger. You may need speed to draw your firearm, but you will never be in a hurry to re-holster it!
TO DRAW YOUR FIREARM:
FOR MEN ONLY:
If you have to relieve yourself, the fact that you're carrying in SmartCarry® does not prohibit you from using a urinal in the normal manner! If you find that your firearm is blocking your access to the fly in your underwear, use your thumb and index finger to move SmartCarry® to the right (if you're right handed - reverse for left handed users) and access the fly in your underwear with any of your remaining fingers. Then release the firearm and proceed as usual. The side of your hand will keep the firearm out of your way. You can also grasp the barrel/slide of the firearm with your weak hand, through your trousers, and simply move it to your left/right for easy access to the fly in your shorts. From personal experience, I can tell you this works very well, does not take any longer than normal and I carry a full size M1911A-1! Tip: A few practice runs in the privacy of your home before you carry in public are a big plus!
To draw when seated, leaning back in the chair makes this a lot simpler. If seated in a vehicle, wearing a seat belt and shoulder strap, push your gut forward against the seat belt while leaning back in the seat and slide your strong hand in your waistband, grasp the grip of the firearm and pull straight up. Similar to what you have to do if you need to retrieve your wallet at a toll booth. Practice this a few times (always with an unloaded gun!) and you'll be surprised at how easy it is to draw your firearm while seated.
FOR MEN & WOMEN:
If you have to sit down to relieve yourself, it works like this, and there is never a need to remove SmartCarryTM, or even your firearm, unless you're defending yourself! When you lower (or lift) your outer garment, simply move SmartCarry® up until it rides around your lower chest. When finished, move SmartCarry® down to its original position on your hips, pull up (or lower) your outer garment and be on your way!
WASHING:
SmartCarry® maintenance instructions: Machine wash in cold or warm water, hang up to air dry for maximum holster life. SmartCarry® can be machine washed in warm water and tumbled dry on low heat, if time is a factor. Remember that high heat will damage the elastic, over time, so air drying is always best. Since body perspiration does not normally reach SmartCarry® washing is not frequently required. Personal experience, gained from carrying 10 to 14 hours a day, Monday through Friday, indicates that washing is seldom required, once or twice a year, if that often. The area that SmartCarry® is worn is probably one of the cleanest locations of your body, and your lower outer garment protects SmartCarry® from dirt and stains.
